About the role#
The Aerospace Corporation is seeking an undergraduate intern for the Summer 2027 term to join our Structural Mechanics Subdivision. This role focuses on the dynamics of launch and space vehicles. You will work within a team of engineers to support technical evaluations and research for government and commercial space applications. This is a paid, full-time internship based on-site in El Segundo, California.
What you'll do#
- Develop, organize, and improve software and simulation tools for structural dynamics problems related to flight and post-flight loads.
- Refine tools and processes used to prepare test or flight sensor data for comparison against analytical predictions.
- Support fleet monitoring efforts using sensor data.
- Apply current techniques and procedures to complete engineering tasks related to vehicle dynamic loading.
- Document your findings and present recommendations to the team.
What you'll need#
- Current full-time enrollment in an accredited Bachelor's degree program for Mechanical, Structural, or Aerospace Engineering.
- Completion of sophomore class standing by the internship start date.
- Availability to work full-time for at least 10 weeks outside of your university term.
- Ability to return to your undergraduate program full-time after the internship concludes.
- Proficiency in Python and Matlab programming environments.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Demonstrated interest in structural dynamics for rocket and satellite structures.
- U.S. citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- Submission of academic transcripts.
