About the role#
The Tracking Architecture Performance Department performs concept development, systems engineering, architecture analysis, and algorithm evaluation. The team supports national security space customers with a focus on radar, electro-optical, and infrared sensors, along with missile warning, missile tracking, electronic warfare, and space domain awareness missions. This internship provides an opportunity to contribute to modeling, simulation, and algorithm development for space surveillance and threat analysis.
What you'll do#
- Develop and assess algorithms for target tracking.
- Perform modeling, simulation, and analysis for space domain awareness and missile warning missions.
- Apply standard scientific and engineering techniques to complete assigned technical tasks.
- Provide analytical support for systems engineering and architecture projects.
- Collaborate with internal and external organizations while receiving training and mentorship.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Master's or PhD program in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.
- Completion of a Bachelor's degree prior to the start of the internship.
- Ability to work full-time for at least 10 weeks and return to a degree program afterward.
- Programming experience in C, C++, Java, or Python.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Organizational, time management, and project management abilities.
- Ability to adapt to changing organizational needs and work effectively in a team.
- U.S. citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
- The position is 100% on-site in either El Segundo, California, or Colorado Springs, Colorado.
