About the role#
The Network Systems Department is seeking a graduate intern to join the Mission Payloads Division. You will support systems acquisition activities, ranging from requirement development to validation and verification. This role offers an opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers in an environment focused on space and ground network architectures. This is a full-time, onsite internship based in El Segundo, California, for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Prototype software for modeling and simulation of future network architectures.
- Develop and improve modeling, simulation, and post-processing tools for space and ground networks.
- Deliver technical briefings to internal teams and customers.
- Collaborate with networking engineers on technical projects.
- Apply strong written and oral communication skills to coordinate efforts across organizations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a master's degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Availability to work full-time for at least 10 weeks and the ability to return to your degree program afterward.
- Proficiency in a programming language, with a preference for Python and C++.
- Experience in applied research, including analytical, simulation, or experimental skills.
- U.S. citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
- Submission of academic transcripts.
- Preferred qualifications include an active security clearance, experience with Agile task management, or coursework in Advanced Algorithms, Networking Systems, or Data Analysis. Knowledge of 3GPP 5G NR Air Interface or 5G Protocol Stacks is also a plus.
