About the role#
The Remote Sensing Architecture Performance Graduate Intern will work within the Surveillance and Navigation Architecture Performance Department. You will use modeling and simulation tools to support requirements verification, analyses-of-alternatives, and performance modeling for space-based remote sensing architectures. Interns join a team of mentors and staff to apply existing skills while expanding their knowledge of modeling and simulation.
What you'll do#
- Gain experience in national security space or intelligence mission areas, including geo-spatial intelligence, navigation systems, or space surveillance.
- Provide analysis to support research, development, and acquisition decisions for customer space-based sensing architectures.
- Perform architecture evaluation modeling using in-house or custom tools.
- Translate customer needs into project objectives.
- Develop and present technical reports and presentations to communicate analysis results.
- Aid in the sustainment and growth of the organization's analysis and simulation capabilities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited graduate program in aerospace engineering, physics, operations research, mathematics, or a related field.
- Completion of a BS degree by the start of the internship and enrollment in a graduate STEM program beginning Fall 2027.
- Ability to work full-time for at least 10 weeks and return to your degree program after the internship.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Familiarity with astrodynamics or space operations.
- Proficiency in Python, C++, or MATLAB.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
- Personal accountability, a desire to learn, and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to work with a diverse team.
- Submission of transcripts.

- This is a full-time, paid internship.
- The position is 100% on-site.
- Available locations: El Segundo, California; Chantilly, Virginia; or Colorado Springs, Colorado.
