About the role#
The Student Development Specialist III provides support and case management to students seeking assistance. This role involves connecting students with university and community resources, monitoring cases for trends, and taking action when necessary. You will work closely with the Critical Incident Response Team to provide follow-up support after immediate assistance is provided. This position requires a student-centered professional who can maintain confidentiality while managing sensitive information.
What you'll do#
- Manage individual student cases and conduct educational or developmental conversations.
- Document all student interactions and assessments using university databases.
- Provide follow-up support for cases handled by the Critical Incident Response Team.
- Coordinate specific programming such as Silver Taps or Former Foster initiatives.
- Consult with faculty, staff, and parents regarding student concerns, absences, or crisis situations.
- Represent the department on various university committees and task forces.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three years of experience in student affairs or a related specialty area, including at least two years specifically in student affairs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and manage multiple tasks.
- A Master’s degree in student affairs, counseling, or a related field is preferred.
