About the role#
The Student Technician role provides hands-on support for multidisciplinary research projects at the Texas A&M Institute for Preclinical Studies. This position involves daily animal care and husbandry, ensuring all research animals are maintained according to standard operating procedures. You will work in an environment that may involve high humidity or temperature and will be expected to perform both technical and routine tasks.
What you'll do#
- Perform daily animal care, including feeding, watering, and health monitoring.
- Provide enrichment and environmental monitoring for research animals.
- Assist with animal surgery and tissue collection days.
- Handle the transportation of animals as required.
- Work with minimal instruction to complete assigned tasks.
What you'll need#
- Must be a current undergraduate or graduate student at Texas A&M University.
- Preferred majors include Biology, Animal Science, Nutrition, Biomedical Sciences, Agriculture, or related fields.
- Ability to manage time effectively and follow instructions precisely.
- Must be detail-oriented and dependable.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift or move objects ranging from light to heavy.
