About the role#
The Special Education Teacher Intern manages a classroom and oversees student and staff operations. You will report to the School Program Director and work within a team to support individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities. This is a full-time, on-site role based in San Jose, California.
What you'll do#
- Design and implement curriculum, student individualized education plans (IEPs), and behavior intervention plans.
- Supervise, coach, and manage a team of 7 to 8 instructional aides.
- Maintain consistent communication with IEP team members, including parents, therapists, and administration.
- Provide ongoing support and instruction for all activities of daily living, such as personal hygiene and safety.
- Lead daily classroom activities and support the use of multi-modal communication strategies.
- Conduct data tracking for behavior and goal progress while preparing necessary reports.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a teaching credential program.
- A current Education Specialist Credential (moderate to severe).
- Ability to physically engage with all elements of programming, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Proficiency with technology such as computers and tablets.
- Ability to read and write English at a professional level.
