About the role#
This position supports Exceptional Student Education (ESE) programs by assisting with instructional and developmental tasks. You will work under the supervision of teachers to help manage the classroom environment and provide daily support to students. This role involves direct interaction with students, staff, and parents to ensure a safe and supportive learning experience.
What you'll do#
- Maintain student records and prepare teaching materials.
- Supervise students during meals, special programs, field trips, and bus transitions.
- Reinforce instruction for individuals and small groups under teacher guidance.
- Ensure the classroom environment remains safe and organized.
- Assist students with daily living skills, which may include feeding, hygiene support, or behavioral monitoring.
- Use technology to assist with instructional tasks and student support.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Sixty credit hours, an Associate degree, or a passing score on the Para Pro exam.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Capability to lift, move, or position students and objects weighing up to 40 pounds frequently, and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Bilingual or biliterate skills are preferred.
- Interest in working with exceptional children and the ability to work professionally with team members.
