About the role#
The Respiratory Extern works within the float pool to support the respiratory care team. You will work under the direction of a Respiratory Therapist to ensure that equipment is ready and available across the hospital. This is a per diem, on-site role that offers hands-on experience in a clinical setting.
What you'll do#
- Assemble, transport, disinfect, calibrate, and troubleshoot respiratory equipment.
- Maintain proper equipment levels in various work areas.
- Assist Respiratory Therapists with procedures and tasks as directed.
- Provide comfort and support to patients to ensure a positive healthcare experience.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program.
- BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
- Previous experience with the assembly and cleaning of respiratory equipment.
- Preference is given to 2nd year Respiratory Therapy students with previous healthcare experience.
- Ability to obtain ACLS and PALS certification prior to graduation.
