About the role#
As a Manufacturing Engineer Intern, you will gain hands-on experience developing the processes, tools, and systems that move hardware from development into production. You will work alongside design and manufacturing engineers to improve the safety, performance, cost, and manufacturability of parts and assemblies. You will spend time on the shop floor assembling hardware and test stands, troubleshooting problems, and iterating on processes based on your findings. This role is an opportunity to build practical manufacturing experience while contributing to reliable systems.
What you'll do#
- Develop and implement scalable manufacturing processes to ensure reliable and safe systems.
- Collaborate with design engineers to make recommendations for improved manufacturability, performance, safety, and cost.
- Build, assemble, and validate prototypes, test stands, and development units.
- Perform root-cause analysis on test failures and develop hardware mitigations.
- Establish manufacturing and quality practices that scale with the company through production phases.
What you'll need#
- Current undergraduate or graduate student status in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace, Nuclear, or a related engineering field.
- Familiarity with engineering drawings, CAD models, and basic GD&T concepts.
- A strong understanding of engineering fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience gained through coursework, student teams, internships, research, or personal projects.
- Interest in hands-on manufacturing and hardware development.
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends if necessary.

- Location: Los Angeles, California.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: On-site, full-time.
- Compensation: $30 to $40 per hour, depending on academic standing.
- Benefits: Monthly housing stipend and eligibility for overtime pay.
