About the role#
As an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) intern at General Matter, you will gain hands-on experience supporting safety and environmental protection for our enrichment technology development and pilot-scale operations. You will work alongside experienced EHS professionals to build practical programs for managing chemical, radiological, and industrial hazards. This role contributes to our mission while building your understanding of regulatory compliance and operational safety.
What you'll do#
- Support the development, implementation, and improvement of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) programs and procedures.
- Assist in identifying electrical hazards and conducting risk assessments for equipment, labs, and operations.
- Create, review, and maintain equipment-specific energy control procedures and documentation.
- Develop and deliver safety training materials related to electrical safety and LOTO practices.
- Support electrical hazard assessments, labeling efforts, and PPE evaluations.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
- A strong understanding of health and safety fundamentals.
- Ability to assess occupational health and safety risks and apply safety principles.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills for audits, inspections, and procedure development.
