About the role#
General Matter is looking for an Electrical Engineering intern to join the Buildings team. You will work alongside engineers and designers to learn how to build power, lighting, and low-voltage systems for large-scale industrial facilities. This role provides hands-on experience with high-reliability, energy-intensive facility design.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the design and coordination of electrical power systems in BIM for industrial and critical facilities.
- Perform load calculations, circuit analysis, and panel schedules.
- Support the development of medium-voltage distribution networks and backup systems.
- Contribute to lighting design studies, grounding layouts, and protective device coordination tasks.
- Assist in preparing documentation, specifications, and construction drawings for large-scale projects.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Environmental Engineering.
- Foundational coursework in electrical power systems, machines, circuits, and building services engineering.
- Exposure to BIM modeling software, specifically Revit and AutoCAD.
- Academic understanding of power distribution, load analysis, and basic electrical design fundamentals.
- Interest in learning lighting and energy modeling tools.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship based in Los Angeles, California.
- The term for this position is Summer 2027.
- This role does not offer visa sponsorship.
