About the role#
This backend engineering internship involves working on systems that support real product workflows. You will own services rather than tickets, and your work will move into production quickly. The team handles messy candidate data at volume, requiring reliable models for search and scoring. You will focus on correctness and reliability by designing schemas, building idempotent background jobs, and tracing data issues back to their source.
What you'll do#
- Build and extend backend services, APIs, and data models.
- Design and maintain database schemas for search, scoring, and reporting.
- Create background jobs and integrations that run reliably without supervision.
- Investigate data quality issues and fix them at the source.
- Write readable code and review work from other engineers.
What you'll need#
- Strong programming fundamentals in TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, or similar languages.
- Comfort learning backend systems, APIs, databases, and data modeling.
- Experience shipping meaningful work through side projects, class projects, open-source contributions, or previous internships.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn quickly.
- Ability to communicate clearly and work independently in a remote environment.
