About the role#
Auto-Owners Insurance is seeking a Software Developer Intern for the Summer 2027 term. You will join our IT Division to work on software programs and applications. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Lansing, Michigan.
What you'll do#
- Define, develop, test, and maintain new and existing software applications.
- Participate in code and design reviews, as well as team brainstorming sessions.
- Create and update program and system documentation.
- Identify and resolve software errors.
- Collaborate with users, architects, project leaders, and management to troubleshoot problems and propose solutions.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Completion of at least two years of coursework.
- Knowledge of Java and RESTful services is strongly preferred.
- Experience with a modern IDE is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Node.js, React, Angular, container deployments, or source control management is a plus.
- Ability to learn and apply software development techniques used within the IT Division.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship.

- Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday.
