About the role#
We are looking for a motivated intern to join our IT Security department for the summer of 2027. You will work on reducing security risks and responding to incidents for the company and its affiliates. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Lansing, Michigan.
What you'll do#
- Enforce corporate policies and help ensure compliance with external regulatory requirements and technical standards.
- Maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our infrastructure.
- Investigate security incidents and escalate alerts to the appropriate team members or vendors.
- Administer, upgrade, and troubleshoot at least one security product or application.
- Research and support security software tools and mitigation policies.
- Provide regular status updates to leadership and team members.
- Document the concepts and skills you learn during the term.
What you'll need#
- You are working toward a bachelor’s degree in IT Security, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, or a similar field.
- You have completed at least two years of your degree program.
- You show initiative and are motivated to learn.
- You can analyze details and solve problems logically.
- You communicate effectively and participate actively in meetings.
- You have the ability to share knowledge about cybersecurity threats.
- You are ready to learn about security engineering, network and cloud security, encryption protocols, and authentication methods.
- You must be able to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
Location & details#
- This role is located on-site in Lansing, Michigan.
- The internship is a full-time position during the summer of 2027.
- Interns coordinate their specific start and end dates, typically running from mid-May through mid-August.
