About the role#
Talcott Financial Group offers a ten-week summer internship for students interested in actuarial careers. You will work alongside industry professionals in our Actuarial Leadership Training program. This role provides exposure to core business functions and helps you build technical and leadership skills. You will work in a hybrid format, with three days per week at our Hartford office.
What you'll do#
- Support product lines including variable, fixed, and fixed index annuities, as well as life insurance.
- Gain exposure to pricing, valuation, financial reporting, and risk assessment.
- Complete business assignments designed to expand your technical and professional knowledge.
- Interact with members of the actuarial leadership team through various program activities.
- Deliver a final presentation to the Chief Actuary and other members of the actuarial community.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s program for actuarial science, mathematics, economics, or a similar field.
- Current status as a sophomore or beyond with a 3.5 GPA or higher.
- Preference for candidates who have passed at least one SOA actuarial exam.
- Ability to work autonomously while managing conflicting priorities.
- Proficiency or aptitude for technical tools such as Excel, VBA, and R.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a focus on process improvement.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A positive attitude and a commitment to ownership of your work.
Location & details#
- Location: Hartford, Connecticut.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Work Modality: Hybrid (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday onsite).
- Compensation: 25 to 27 USD per hour.
- Requirements: This is a full-time position. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
