About the role#
Stantec is seeking a Lighting Intern for the Summer 2027 term. You will join our Lighting Design group in Washington, D.C. to work on lighting designs, fixture selection, and documentation. This role offers the chance to gain experience in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment while working on building projects.
What you'll do#
- Produce lighting layouts in Revit.
- Perform photometric calculations using AGI32 or LightStanza.
- Complete energy code compliance calculations.
- Write reports and develop presentation materials, renderings, and graphic packages.
- Create luminaire schedules and pull product specification sheets.
- Develop and review design mock-ups.
- Collaborate directly with the design team.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a 4-year degree program in design or engineering with a focus on lighting design.
- Proficiency in Revit and Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with BIM applications like SketchUp, Enscape, Navisworks, Lumion, and Rhino.
- Experience with photometric calculation software such as AGI32, LightStanza, photometric toolbox, and IES files.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to research and present design options.
- Effective time-management and prioritization skills.
- A proactive approach to project assignments.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship based in Washington, D.C.
- The role is primarily on-site with occasional hybrid work opportunities.
