Intern Pharmacy - Retail Outpatient

About the role#

The Pharmacy Intern role provides students enrolled in an accredited College of Pharmacy the opportunity to gain practical experience while completing their degree. Under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, you will assist with the selection, preparation, distribution, and record-keeping of medications for inpatients.

What you'll do#

• Assist the pharmacist in dispensing medications by filling bins and labels, restocking Pyxis stations, and supporting ancillary departments.
• Perform rounds to ensure the timely receipt and delivery of patient medication information and products.
• Help ensure that medications on nursing units remain compliant with regulatory guidelines.
• Assist in the production of sterile preparations by aseptically compounding, labeling, and storing products.
• Participate in expiration date checking, inventory management, and stock rotation for assigned areas.
• Process departmental accounting for patient billable and floor stock supplies.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in an accredited College of Pharmacy.
• Current registration as an Intern with the Board of Pharmacy in the state where work is performed.
• Proficiency in typing and computer keyboarding.
• Experience with MS Office.
• A degree in a related field such as Chemistry, Biology, or Mathematics is preferred.
