Pharmacy Intern (H)

About the role#

As a Pharmacy Intern at SSM Health DePaul Hospital, you will work under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist to gain hands-on experience in a clinical setting. This role is designed for students pursuing degrees in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biology, or Health Administration who are looking to develop their skills and perform the duties of a pharmacy technician while completing their education.

What you'll do#

• Assist pharmacists in the preparation, compounding, and dispensing of inpatient and outpatient medications.
• Maintain electronic patient records, including profiles, insurance billing, and prescription history.
• Manage inventory by ordering, stocking, and inspecting medications for expiration or recalls.
• Interact with patients and healthcare staff, answering inquiries and providing information on drugs under pharmacist supervision.
• Follow strict documentation and security procedures for the handling and dispensing of controlled substances.
• Identify and flag patients who qualify for Medication Therapy Management (MTM) programs.
• Perform pharmacy technician duties, including cash register operations and insurance processing.

What you'll need#

• A High School diploma, GED, or 10 years of work experience.
• The ability to perform all standard duties of a pharmacy technician.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Knowledge of Medication Therapy Management (MTM) programs.
• High level of attention to detail with frequent use of vision and depth perception for clinical tasks.
• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
