About the role#
As a Respiratory Care Student at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, you will provide evaluation and care for respiratory therapy patients within your student scope of practice. This role functions in a PRN capacity, requiring a constant state of alertness and a commitment to safe work practices.
What you'll do#
- Administer medications and treatments to patients under appropriate supervision.
- Deliver and assess patient responses to ordered therapy.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions.
- Provide patient education regarding diseases, medications, and treatments.
- Respond to medical emergencies and rapid response situations as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Respiratory Therapy program.
- Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- If working in Missouri, a Respiratory Education Permit from the Missouri Division of Professional Registration.
- If working in Oklahoma, a Letter of Acknowledgment of Receipt of Application for Provisional Respiratory Care Practitioner or a Provisional Respiratory Care Therapist license from the Oklahoma Medical Board.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including constant standing and walking, frequent lifting of up to 25 lbs, and occasional patient lifting.
