About the role#
This is a pharmacy intern position at SSM Health DePaul Hospital in St. Louis. You will work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist to assist with medication preparation, dispensing, and inventory management. This role is designed to help you develop professional skills while completing your pharmacy education.
What you'll do#
- Greet and assist customers in the pharmacy while maintaining knowledge of available merchandise.
- Answer phones and emails, handling inquiries that do not require a pharmacist.
- Manage electronic patient records, including profiles, insurance details, and prescription status.
- Fill medication carts and dispensing machines.
- Counsel patients, nurses, and physicians on drug information, dosage, and reactions under pharmacist supervision.
- Assist with inventory control, including ordering, stocking, and rotating medications.
What you'll need#
- A High School diploma, GED, or 10 years of work experience.
- No prior pharmacy experience is required.
- Ability to hear alarms and identify machinery malfunctions.
- Frequent use of vision for near and far distances, including color recognition.
- Ability to use hearing and speech for oral communication.
