About the role#
Eco Reps are student leaders who support the Office of Sustainability. You will promote sustainable practices, engage with the campus community, and contribute to ongoing initiatives. This role offers hands-on experience in project management, communication, and leadership while you help advance sustainability efforts at SNHU.
What you'll do#
- Lead and support food waste campaigns, including awareness efforts and waste audits.
- Facilitate peer-to-peer engagement through workshops, tabling, and classroom or club presentations.
- Develop accessible educational materials that align with campus and local food waste guidelines.
- Promote behavior change strategies to encourage reduction, reuse, and proper sorting.
- Coordinate food waste efforts at campus events and partner with organizers to explore sustainable practices like composting or donation.
- Track and report waste diversion outcomes and maintain simple tracking tools like spreadsheets.
- Assist with food waste audits and contribute to reports on participation and engagement metrics.
- Collaborate with partners such as Dining and Facilities to expand initiatives.
- Recruit and coordinate volunteers while serving as a visible ambassador for sustainability.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an SNHU student in good academic standing.
- An interest in sustainability, environmental studies, or a related field.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Organizational skills and comfort engaging with diverse audiences.
- Familiarity with recycling and composting practices or a willingness to learn.
- Availability to support colleagues at events, including Good Stuff, Arboretum After Dark, and Campus Race to Zero Waste.
- Preferred experience with event planning, outreach, or peer education.
- Preferred knowledge of local or state waste guidelines and data tracking tools.
- A driver’s license or the ability to obtain one.
Location & details#
- This position is based on-site in New Hampshire.
- The role is part-time, typically requiring 10 to 15 hours per week.
- The schedule includes weekday hours with some nights and weekends based on office events.
- Compensation ranges from $13.00 to $15.00 per hour.
