About the role#
This Pharmacy Intern position is based in a locally owned Shoppers Drug Mart in Oakville. You will gain practical experience in a community pharmacy setting, focusing on the expanding roles of a pharmacist. This role is designed to prepare students for future careers in community pharmacy by providing real-world training that complements academic studies.
What you'll do#
- Greet and acknowledge all customers who approach the pharmacy.
- Provide an exceptional shopping experience while delivering health, beauty, and convenience services.
- Ensure all privacy requirements, including customer confidentiality and consent management, are met.
- Learn to manage retail pharmacy operations.
- Develop professional skills to support patients in a community setting.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a program related to Pharmaceutical Sciences, Health Administration, or Nursing.
- Knowledge of over-the-counter products.
- Understanding of disease state management and drug therapy management.
- Ability to perform patient counseling.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with patients, staff, and other health care professionals.
