About the role#
This internship provides experience working with diverse patient populations while you develop the professional skills needed to become a social worker. You will work under the supervision of a licensed social worker and learn through observation, demonstration, and ongoing feedback. The program emphasizes self-reflection and peer critique to support your growth.
What you'll do#
You will report to the unit 2 days a week to support child and adolescent or adult service lines and day programs. Your responsibilities include:
- Completing comprehensive psychosocial assessments.
- Communicating with patients, their families, and guardians.
- Coordinating with internal and external treatment team members.
- Assisting with discharge planning.
- Conducting clinical groups 1 to 2 times a week.

Location & details#
This position is located on-site in Towson, Maryland. The internship runs from September 2026 through April 2027. This is a paid, part-time position. Please note that Sheppard Pratt only accepts interns from schools with an existing affiliation agreement, and the application process must be initiated through your university field placement department.
