About the role#
This internship provides pre-professional experience in a co-occurring behavioral health setting. You will work at the Spirit Crossing Clubhouse in Fort Collins during the Winter 2027 term. This is an unpaid, full-time field placement designed to meet requirements for accredited bachelor-level programs. You will work alongside staff and members to support recovery and vocational goals.
What you'll do#
- Provide guidance to adults with behavioral health disorders to help them achieve daily living and vocational goals.
- Function as a Clubhouse generalist staff member by coordinating tasks and activities within the day program.
- Build relationships with a diverse range of individuals.
- Perform individual services including goal setting, program planning, job coaching, and supported education tutoring.
- Advocate for the program and the individuals you serve within the community.
- Conduct program evaluations to maintain fidelity to Clubhouse standards.
- Document services and perform basic case management using an electronic medical records system.
- Maintain clinical documentation that is accurate, timely, and compliant with state and federal standards.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited BS, BA, or BSW program with a specialty in behavioral health sciences.
- Your college or university must have an active articulation agreement with SummitStone Health Partners.
- You must be actively seeking a field placement for at least one semester.
- Ability to recognize and interpret mental health and substance use symptoms.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Critical thinking, time management, and prioritization skills.
- Ability to collaborate with providers, partners, and community agencies.
- Availability during Clubhouse operating hours, which are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Availability for occasional evening or weekend programming.
- A 250-500 word essay addressing either your definition of recovery or your role in supporting an individual's recovery.
