About the role#
This internship provides fieldwork experience for Occupational Therapy and Occupational Therapy Assistant students within an adolescent residential treatment center. The program uses a group supervision model, with a ratio of 6 to 10 students supported by 3 clinical instructors. You will work in a setting that emphasizes self-reflection and adult learning principles.

- Participate in group supervision sessions with on-site staff and university faculty.
- Engage in regular self-reflection and self-evaluation to guide your professional growth.
- Take part in peer critique to focus on learning outcomes.
- Seek out independent learning opportunities and actively request feedback.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Occupational Therapy institution that holds an existing contract with Sheppard Pratt.
- OT students must be at the Master’s or Doctoral level; OTA students must be at the Associates level.
- A strong foundation in child and adolescent mental health theory, clinical reasoning, and evidence-based practice.
- Knowledge of group theory, application, and teaching concepts for clients, staff, and caregivers.
- Ability to demonstrate flexible thinking, adaptability, and a readiness to learn from all experiences.
- Patience and compassion when working with adolescent patients.
Location & details#
- Location: Towson, Maryland.
- Modality: On-site, full-time (40 hours per week).
- Duration: 12 weeks for OT students; 8 weeks for OTA students.
- Terms: Paid internship with flexible start dates on a rolling basis.
