About the role#
This internship provides clinical fieldwork experience within our inpatient hospital setting. You will work as part of the multidisciplinary team to support our continuum of care. We use a 1:1 supervision model where you work alongside a licensed occupational therapist who is on-site every day. This is a full-time, paid position with a flexible start date.
What you'll do#
- Provide individual and group occupational therapy services to clients.
- Perform clinical assessments as appropriate.
- Participate in 1:1 supervision and clinical practice.
- Engage in independent learning to build your skills.
- Help educate staff, clients, and caregivers.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited Occupational Therapy institution that has an existing contract with Sheppard Pratt.
- OT students must be at the Master’s or Doctoral level, while OTA students must be at the Associates level.
- A strong foundation in child and adolescent mental health theory.
- Knowledge of clinical reasoning, evidence-based practice, and group theory.
- Ability to seek out learning opportunities and feedback independently.
- Patience, compassion, and flexible thinking when working with patients.
Location & details#
- Locations include Elkridge and Towson, Maryland.
- This role is on-site.
- OT rotations last 12 weeks, and OTA rotations last 8 weeks.
- Both rotations consist of 40 hours per week.
