About the role#
This internship provides Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) students with experience in community mental health and psychiatric rehabilitation. Located in a recovery-oriented setting, the role focuses on supporting adults diagnosed with serious mental illness. Interns gain exposure to public behavioral health systems and evidence-based practices through direct client interaction and interdisciplinary collaboration.
What you'll do#
- Observe and assist with client assessments and individualized service planning.
- Facilitate therapeutic and psychoeducational group activities.
- Provide supportive client engagement in individual and group settings.
- Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings and care coordination.
- Document observations, client interactions, and interventions according to agency standards.
- Support program development and quality improvement initiatives.
- Assist with crisis intervention and behavioral support under direct supervision.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program.
- Ability to pass all required background screenings, health clearances, and onboarding requirements.
- Strong communication skills, reliability, and a commitment to professional conduct.
- Completion of all mandatory training regarding confidentiality, safety, and organizational policies.
- Availability to complete the required internship hours for the full placement period.
