About the role#
This internship offers a comprehensive experience for social work students interested in community mental health and psychiatric rehabilitation. You will work within the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program (PRP) at a recovery-oriented day program for adults diagnosed with serious mental illness. The placement focuses on developing clinical and professional skills through individualized support, treatment planning, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
What you'll do#
- Observe and assist with client assessments and individualized service planning.
- Assist with the development, coordination, and facilitation of therapeutic and psychoeducational group activities.
- Provide supportive client engagement in both group and individual settings.
- Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings, case consultations, and care coordination.
- Document observations, client interactions, and assigned interventions according to agency standards.
- Observe and assist with crisis intervention, de-escalation, and behavioral support under direct supervision.
- Attend scheduled individual and group supervision sessions.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program.
- Ability to pass all required background screenings, health clearances, and onboarding requirements.
- Professionalism, reliability, and strong communication skills.
- Willingness to complete all required training related to confidentiality, HIPAA, safety, and organizational policies.
- Availability to complete required internship hours for the full placement period.
