About the role#
This is a 10-week internship focused on the professional liability underwriting space. You will work with underwriters to assess risk profiles and determine appropriate policy terms, conditions, and pricing. You will also assist with departmental projects and gain an understanding of the professional liability marketplace.
What you'll do#
- Analyze underwriting submissions for new and renewal accounts.
- Assess risk exposures, review policy wordings, and produce underwriting reports.
- Focus on professional liability clients in the large corporate sector, such as law firms, accountants, consultants, and construction professionals.
- Analyze trends and macro factors to help determine optimal portfolio breakdown.
- Work with the underwriting staff to analyze and improve broker relationships.
- Ensure appropriate file documentation and compliance.
- Research and present a final project to the professional liability staff.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree, preferably as an incoming Junior.
- Strong analytical aptitude and a self-starter mindset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
- Strong writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Location & details#
- Location: New York, New York.
- This is a full-time, paid internship.
- The role operates on a hybrid schedule, with 3 days per week in the office and 2 days per week remote.
- The pay range for this position is $25.50 to $27.50 per hour.
- Relocation assistance within the U.S. is available.
- Candidates must have valid authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for employer sponsorship.
