About the role#
Samtec is looking for an Electrical Engineering co-op with a focus on Signal Integrity. You will work with various managers and teams within the signal integrity group to gain exposure to high-speed interconnect design. This role involves completing assigned projects, building trust with team members, and maintaining a focus on customer needs. You will take direction from senior engineers, use your creativity, and explore new solutions to technical issues.
What you'll do#
- Perform 3D electromagnetic modeling.
- Analyze high-speed interconnects for printed circuit boards, packages, and connectors.
- Use a Vector Network Analyzer and Time Domain Reflectometry for interconnect measurements.
- Learn interconnect analysis methods and metrics used in standards bodies.
- Write scripts to assist in post-process data analysis.
- Initiate and follow up on project actions.
What you'll need#
- Junior or Senior status in a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering program.
- Preference for students planning to pursue a graduate degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Coursework in Electromagnetics, Microwave Engineering, and Digital Signal Processing.
- Understanding of wave propagation, transmission line theory, and scattering parameters.
- Familiarity with modeling tools like MATLAB, ANSYS HFSS, or Keysight ADS.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication.
