About the role#
The Prevention Intern works with the Prevention Coordinator to implement community-based programming aimed at preventing domestic abuse. This role focuses on the Relationship Education Project (REP) and other training initiatives in Anderson, Oconee, and Pickens counties. The position is part-time and unpaid, though it may fulfill practicum requirements for academic programs.
What you'll do#
- Facilitate REP-1 presentations in schools and community groups.
- Build collaborative partnerships with schools, faith communities, non-profits, and businesses to prioritize domestic violence prevention.
- Represent the organization at outreach and tabling events.
- Research, edit, and update educational content for the prevention curriculum.
- Collaborate with the Education team to develop and implement a strategic education and prevention plan.
- Document data collected from school curriculum sessions.
- Participate in staff meetings, team meetings, and training sessions.
What you'll need#
- Undergraduate student status, preferably a junior or senior.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel to community-based settings.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes some evenings and weekends.
- Capacity to relate to others in an empathetic and non-judgmental manner.
- Public speaking experience is preferred.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus.
- Relevant majors include Psychology, Public Health, Sociology, Communications, Political Science, and Human Resources.
