About the role#
As a Development Intern, you will support donor communications and stewardship while assisting with the planning and execution of fundraising initiatives. You will work closely with the development team to maintain accurate donor records, conduct research on prospective partners, and engage in community outreach. This role provides an opportunity to gain experience in non-profit fundraising and operations while supporting the mission of Safe Harbor.
What you'll do#
- Assist with community engagement efforts, including attending tabling events and facilitating informational presentations.
- Maintain and update the donor database, ensuring the accuracy and confidentiality of all records.
- Support donor communications by drafting thank-you letters, making phone calls, and preparing tax receipts.
- Help organize, promote, and execute seasonal fundraising initiatives and donor appreciation events.
- Conduct research to identify prospective donors and community partnering opportunities.
- Track and distribute outreach materials throughout the community.
- Assist in securing in-kind donations for program needs and client events.
What you'll need#
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong research skills with the ability to organize and summarize information effectively.
- A self-motivated and detail-oriented approach to tasks.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Comfort using the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Current enrollment in a relevant major such as Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Psychology, or Sociology.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation for occasional travel to community sites.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site, part-time, unpaid internship based in Greenville, South Carolina.
- Availability is required during business hours (Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm), with some evening and weekend hours required.
- Occasional travel is required to facilities in Greenville, Anderson, Oconee, and Pickens Counties.
- Applicants must provide 2-3 references, including at least one academic reference.
