    About the role#

    As a Development Intern, you will support donor communications, stewardship, and the execution of fundraising initiatives. This role involves maintaining donor databases, conducting research on prospective donors, and assisting with community outreach. You will work closely with the Development Team to prepare materials, manage records, and support event planning.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist with community engagement, including tabling events and informational presentations.
    • Maintain and update the donor database, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
    • Support donor communications by drafting correspondence, making phone calls, and processing tax receipts.
    • Help organize and promote seasonal fundraising initiatives and donor appreciation events.
    • Conduct research to identify prospective donors and community partners.
    • Assist in securing in-kind donations for program needs.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Psychology, or Sociology.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong research skills with the ability to organize and summarize information.
    • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
    • Self-motivated, detail-oriented approach to tasks.
    • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel to community partner or facility sites.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Greenville, South Carolina.
    • Term: Fall 2026.
    • Modality: On-site at Safe Harbor offices and facilities, with occasional travel to Greenville, Oconee, Anderson, or Pickens Counties.
    • Schedule: Minimum 4 hours per week during business hours (Monday–Friday, 8:30am–4:30pm), with some evening and weekend hours required.
    • Compensation: This is an unpaid internship.

    About Safe Harbor

    Established in 1995 and headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina, Safe Harbor is a non-profit organization with a staff of 11 to 50 people. The entity provides shelter, counseling, and advocacy services to victims of domestic violence and their children. Operations also include community outreach and educational programming focused on domestic violence prevention throughout the Upstate region.
