About the role#
The Merchandising Intern is a 10-week development program for students interested in a retail career. You will work from our Home Office in Coppell, Texas, alongside our Buying and Product Development teams. This role involves participating in a structured learning path that covers the full product lifecycle, from initial trends to store execution. You will contribute to real business priorities while gaining hands-on experience in how we bring products to market.
What you'll do#
- Support the Buying and Product Development teams with daily merchandising tasks and projects.
- Assist with product research, sample reviews, item setup, pricing, and attribute management.
- Apply retail math to evaluate sales, margin, inventory, and product performance.
- Analyze business results and competitive data to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners in Planning, Marketing, Visual, eCommerce, and Sourcing.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and project updates for leadership.
- Maintain accuracy across product data and internal systems.
- Manage assigned projects and meet deadlines.
- Present your final recommendations and key learnings to At Home leaders at the end of the program.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program, preferably in Merchandising, Product Development, Retail, Business, Analytics, Marketing, or Design.
- Preference for students entering or completing their senior year.
- A genuine interest in the product development process and how customer needs influence purchasing decisions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a willingness to learn retail math.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
- A detail-oriented mindset and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- An interest in pursuing a full-time career with us after graduation.
Location & details#
- Location: Coppell, Texas.
- Modality: Hybrid. You will work from the Home Office Tuesday through Thursday, with Monday or Friday as needed.
- This is a full-time, paid internship.
