About the role#
Saab is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Co-Op to join the Autonomous and Undersea Systems division for the Summer 2027 term. You will work with the engineering team to support the design and development of Autonomous Unmanned Surface and Underwater Vehicles, as well as Remotely Operated Vehicles. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Quincy, Massachusetts. You will work with moderate guidance on various engineering projects.
What you'll do#
- Build and modify 3D models and 2D mechanical drawings using CAD tools.
- Manage data within PDM systems and follow configuration management processes.
- Create or maintain drawing templates and project guidelines.
- Apply ANSI drawing standards to technical documentation.
- Manage and track Bills of Materials and drawing trees.
- Apply knowledge of product configuration and manufacturability.
- Coordinate and communicate with internal and external personnel.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a mechanical engineering degree program or equivalent technical training.
- Completion of at least your Sophomore year by the start date.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Proficiency in CAD software and related technologies.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
- Experience with SolidWorks, SolidWorks PDM, ASME Y14.5 GD&T, and tolerance stack-up assessment is preferred.
- Prior co-op experience is a plus.
