About the role#
As a mechanical engineering intern at Terranova, you will own the design of large-scale industrial systems. You will maintain a systems-level view across mechanical, electrical, and controls disciplines. This role requires you to own problems from start to finish. You will spend time in the factory and in the field working with technicians and operators to build machines that function in demanding environments.
What you'll do#
- Own the mechanical and electromechanical aspects of field deployed industrial systems.
- Perform first-principles engineering, FEA, and hand calculations to optimize designs.
- Build prototypes, run test campaigns, and push hardware to its limits.
- Collaborate with electrical, controls, and field deployment teams to deliver integrated systems.
- Drive failure analysis, testing, and iterative improvement based on real-world data.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Real-world experience in mechanical or electromechanical hardware design and analysis.
- Strong CAD proficiency.
- Hands-on fabrication and prototyping skills.
- Deep mechanical intuition and the ability to design from first principles.
- Comfort with the pace and intensity of early-stage startup life, including long days and extended field hours.
- U.S. permanent residency.
