About the role#
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will join our team to work on real aircraft hardware. You will be embedded with our engineers to support the full design cycle, from initial concept to field deployment. This role offers the opportunity to see how hardware, software, and operations combine to create autonomous electric aircraft. You will gain experience by working on active projects alongside our team.
What you'll do#
- Support the design, prototyping, testing, and iteration of mechanical components and assemblies.
- Assist in validating environmental and performance requirements for aircraft parts and materials.
- Investigate and develop solutions for hardware issues found during flight testing or field operations.
- Create or update 3D CAD models, drawings, and documentation with guidance from senior engineers.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers to improve build processes, tooling, and part manufacturability.
- Conduct hands-on testing, research, or analysis to meet project milestones.
- Present your findings or project outcomes at the end of your internship.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- A genuine interest in electric aviation, robotics, mechanical design, or sustainability.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to tackle complex technical challenges.
- Comfort working in the shop to build, test, and iterate on designs.
- Familiarity with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, NX, or Inventor.
- Bonus experience includes exposure to FEA, composite materials, 3D printing, CNC machining, or rapid prototyping.
