About the role#
Terranova is looking for an Embedded Systems Intern to join our core engineering team for the Winter 2027 term. You will work on electrical design, firmware, controls integration, and PCB design for our robotic systems. This role requires a hands-on approach, as you will own projects from the initial design phase through to field deployment and testing.
What you'll do#
- Develop and debug embedded firmware using C/C++.
- Design and review mixed-signal PCBs using KiCad or Altium.
- Integrate sensors, radios, and power electronics through interfaces like I2C, SPI, UART, and CAN.
- Optimize power budgets, EMI performance, and manufacturability.
- Bring up, test, and validate hardware prototypes.
- Support system integration and field debugging of deployed robotic platforms.
- Work with high power systems while ensuring safe design.
- Collaborate with electrical, controls, and field teams to improve system performance based on real-world data.
What you'll need#
- Working towards a bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Hands-on prototyping experience.
- Proficiency in C/C++ with FreeRTOS or Zephyr.
- Experience with STM32, ESP32, or RP2040 platforms.
- Experience with KiCad or Altium for PCB design.
- Knowledge of mixed-signal and power design.
- U.S. permanent residency.
