About the role#
As an Aeromechanical Engineering Intern, you will support the development of small unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems for military and commercial use. You will work within an Integrated Product Team, gaining hands-on experience in the design, prototyping, and testing of mechanical systems for aerial platforms. This is a 12-week, full-time, paid summer internship.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the design and development of airframe structures and aeromechanical components.
- Create and modify 3D CAD models and assemblies using SolidWorks.
- Support basic mechanical analysis, including kinematics, thermodynamics, and stress.
- Participate in prototype fabrication, 3D printing, and lab testing.
- Help create and revise engineering drawings, bills of materials, and documentation.
- Contribute to technical presentations and design reviews.
- Learn about engineering trade-offs, material selection, and system integration.
- Support design improvements and troubleshooting efforts on current programs.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Exposure to CAD tools such as SolidWorks for 3D modeling and assembly design.
- Foundational understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, and materials.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Interest in air vehicles, robotics, or electromechanical systems.
- U.S. Citizenship is required, along with the ability to obtain a security clearance.
- Preferred experience includes SolidWorks EPDM, MATLAB, Agile PLM, 3D printing, machining, composite fabrication, GD&T (ASME Y14.5), and FEA or thermal analysis tools.

- This position is based on-site in Huntsville, Alabama.
- The internship is for the Summer 2027 term.
