About the role#
As a Propulsion Intern, you will support the development and operation of the Archimedes engine for the Neutron launch vehicle. You will join a team responsible for high-level engine architecture and performance. This role involves managing subsystem details and coordinating across Neutron development, Stennis testing, and vehicle operations teams.
What you'll do#
- Work with mentors and department staff to apply your knowledge and grow technically and professionally.
- Use engineering and industry concepts to solve real challenges.
- Attend frequent 1:1 meetings with mentors and supervisors to track progress and learning.
- Collaborate across teams to deliver results.
- Lead development projects independently.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor’s, master's, or doctorate program in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Astronautical, or Mechanical engineering.
- At least one semester of school remaining after the internship.
- A GPA of 3.0 or above.
- At least 3 months of applied engineering experience, such as internships, laboratory work, or team projects.
- Ability to lead development projects without supervision.
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity and work well within teams.
Location & details#
- Location: Long Beach, California.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Commitment: Full-time, on-site for at least 12 consecutive weeks starting in May or June 2027.
- Compensation: $28.00 per hour.
