About the role#
As an Additive Manufacturing Intern, you will gain hands-on experience with rocketry and the impact of additive manufacturing on modern rocket engines. You will support the department responsible for producing metal hardware for the Electron, Neutron, and Space Systems programs. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Long Beach, California, for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Work closely with your mentor and department colleagues to apply engineering concepts to real-world challenges.
- Attend regular 1:1 meetings with mentors and supervisors to track progress and support your professional growth.
- Participate in tech talks and connect with other interns and employees through professional and social events.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor’s, master's, or doctorate program in Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering, or Physics.
- At least one semester of school remaining after the internship concludes.
- A GPA of 3.0 or above.
- At least 3 months of applied engineering experience, such as internships, laboratory work, or personal and team projects.
- Ability to work full-time on-site for at least 12 consecutive weeks starting in May or June 2027.
- Preferred: A GPA of 3.5 or above and 6+ months of applied engineering experience.
- Preferred: Experience with 3D printing and metal additive manufacturing.
- Preferred: Strong CAD/CAM modeling skills in Siemens NX, Solidworks, or similar software, and experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
