About the role#
As a Fluid Component Intern, you will join the Components team at our Long Beach site. You will support the design of second generation devices to improve the maturity and reliability of our oxidizer-rich staged combustion engines and launch vehicles. This is a full-time, on-site role for the Winter 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Design second generation devices to reach higher levels of reliability.
- Apply engineering concepts to solve real-world technical challenges.
- Work closely with your mentor and department staff on development projects.
- Lead development tasks with minimal supervision.
- Attend regular 1:1 meetings with supervisors to share progress updates.
- Participate in tech talks and professional networking events.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor’s, master's, or doctorate program in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Astronautical, or Mechanical Engineering.
- At least one semester of school remaining after the internship concludes.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Minimum of 3 months of applied engineering experience through internships, labs, or projects.
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity and work within small, high-performing teams.
- Strong collaborative skills across different teams.
Preferred qualifications include a GPA of 3.5 or above and 6 months of applied engineering experience. Experience with CAD/CAM, CNC, 3D printing, Python, GD&T, FEA, or lathe work is also helpful, as is knowledge of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, materials science, or physics.

- Location: Long Beach, California.
- Term: Winter 2027 (minimum 12 consecutive weeks starting January, February, or March).
- Modality: Full-time, on-site.
- Compensation: $28.00 per hour, with potential for a relocation stipend.
