About the role#
As a Fluid Systems Intern, you will support the team responsible for all hardware between the tanks and the engine. You will work on problems that impact the Neutron rocket at varying levels of urgency. This role involves designing, building, testing, and analyzing critical hardware, with the potential to see your work fly.
What you'll do#
- Apply engineering concepts to solve real challenges alongside a team of professionals.
- Work closely with a mentor and other employees to grow your technical and professional skills.
- Lead development projects without direct supervision.
- Collaborate across different teams to deliver results.
- Attend frequent 1:1 meetings with mentors and supervisors to provide progress updates and receive feedback.
- Participate in tech talks and connect with other interns and employees through professional events.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor’s, master's, or doctorate program in engineering, physics, or mathematics.
- At least one semester of school remaining after the internship.
- A GPA of 3.0 or above.
- At least 3 months of applied engineering experience, such as internships, laboratory work, or personal and team projects.
- The ability to thrive in ambiguity and work within small, high-performing teams.
- Preferred: A GPA of 3.5 or above and 6+ months of applied engineering experience.
- Preferred experience: Thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, propulsion, CAD/CAM, 3D printing, lathe machining, GD&T, and FEA.
Location & details#
- Location: Long Beach, California.
- Modality: On-site.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Commitment: Full-time for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks beginning in May or June 2027.
- Compensation: $28.00 USD per hour.
