About the role#
The Lightspeed Engineering Co-op supports rapid-prototyping and process-development work for medical technology customers. You will work directly with engineers and technicians to turn ideas into precision components and assemblies. This position is based in Dayton, Ohio, and requires on-site attendance.
What you'll do#
- Assist with rapid-prototyping and process-development tasks for medical-device components and subassemblies.
- Support engineering trials, prototype builds, test plans, data collection, and technical reports.
- Document process parameters, setup requirements, work instructions, and lessons learned for customer programs.
- Troubleshoot prototype and process issues alongside engineers and technicians.
- Participate in design and manufacturing reviews to evaluate manufacturability and scalability.
- Collaborate with specialists across the engineering and manufacturing network.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical, Biomedical, Manufacturing, Materials, or a related Engineering discipline.
- Strong hands-on problem-solving ability.
- Curiosity and comfort working in a changing environment.
- Ability to communicate clearly, document work accurately, and collaborate across technical teams.
- A genuine interest in product development, rapid prototyping, and advanced manufacturing.

- Compensation: Paid position, ranging from $23.00 to $28.00 per hour based on experience.
