About the role#
RBC Borealis is looking for software developers for a 4 to 8 month co-op term starting in Winter 2027. You will be considered for various roles including Full Stack, Back End, Front End, and Data Engineering positions. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity based in Toronto or Calgary.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with peers to develop code and document components according to strategic initiatives.
- Translate requirements into functional specifications and coordinate design phases.
- Identify, track, and resolve technical issues.
- Create and review technical design documents.
- Facilitate meetings to design, troubleshoot, and execute projects.
- Participate in walkthrough reviews of technical specifications, programs, code, and unit test plans.
- Conduct unit testing and develop automated unit testing frameworks.
- Improve performance of single functions through performance tuning.
- Plan design and implementation activities while providing third-level support for various technologies.
- Drive technical platform evolution and improvements.
- Present technical topics at regular meetings and manage low-level planning of work packages.
- Estimate activities and tasks required for design, coding, and unit testing.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at a Canadian post-secondary institution with a focus on computer science, engineering, or technology.
- Leadership acumen and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Creative and analytical thinking abilities.
- Self-driven approach to work.
- Strong skills in MS Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience or understanding of programming languages, databases, platforms, frameworks, design techniques, code management, and web technologies.
- Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle, including Agile, Waterfall, and Iterative methods.
