About the role#
This Summer 2027 internship is based in Indianapolis, Indiana. You will join the Battle Management Software Department to support the development and testing of aircraft embedded software. This role requires U.S. citizenship. You will work on-site as part of a multi-disciplined team to address complex technical challenges for both new and legacy military and commercial programs.
What you'll do#
- Support the full software life cycle, from concept and requirements to maintenance.
- Collaborate with software and systems engineers to design solutions for avionics systems, including displays, navigation, and mission planning.
- Develop and implement software for mission-critical applications.
- Solve complex technical problems related to system and software integration.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- Completion of at least 60 credit hours by the start of the internship.
- Programming experience with C, C++, C#, Ada, or Python.
- Experience with software life-cycle stages through coursework or projects.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong analytical skills and experience developing software in a Windows environment.
- Working knowledge of scripting languages like Shell, Perl, or Python.
- Understanding of software systems design, integration, and management.
- Preferred skills include experience with RTOS, Unix/Linux, embedded avionics, software drivers, Git, and Agile development environments.
