About the role#
The Mechanical Engineering Co-Op position is based in the Undersea and Electronics Systems Department. You will contribute to the design, development, and integration of defense systems, including undersea sensors, naval platforms, and power equipment. This is a full-time, paid role for the Winter and Spring 2027 terms.
What you'll do#
- Design, develop, and document components, sub-assemblies, and major end items for defense equipment.
- Work with other engineering disciplines to solve technical challenges.
- Validate design fit and functionality through simulation or rapid prototyping.
- Support product integration with the factory and suppliers.
- Participate in design peer reviews and conduct trade studies to support technical decisions.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related STEM major, to be obtained by the start date.
- Experience using 3-D modeling software.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
- Preferred experience includes PTC CREO, PDM, and ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T.
- Knowledge of undersea systems, electronics packaging, long-term submergence design, and corrosion resistance is a plus.
- Prior experience on DoD programs is beneficial.
