About the role#
This Industrial Engineering Co-Op position is based on the New Product Introduction Team in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. You will apply engineering concepts and analysis tools to improve manufacturing operations. This role involves a mix of independent work and collaboration with manufacturing engineers, production personnel, and management to improve product quality and reduce costs. You must be a U.S. citizen to be eligible for this position.
What you'll do#
- Support manufacturing processes by working on equipment, floor layouts, work sequences, and instructions.
- Conduct studies focused on productivity, cost control, inventory systems, and production records.
- Review products and processes to identify risks related to quality, safety, and producibility.
- Work with design teams to implement changes that eliminate identified risks.
- Manage projects or processes of moderate size.
- Solve complex problems independently and create tactical plans for daily operational challenges.
- Travel occasionally to regional sites within Iowa.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program for Industrial Engineering or a related STEM field, continuing through the end of the co-op.
- U.S. citizenship.
- Preference for candidates with prior experience in manufacturing environments.
- Preference for background in root cause analysis.
- Preference for experience with CAD software.
- Preference for a track record of driving continuous improvement in manufacturing.
