About the role#
This is a paid, full-time internship based at our Halifax plant. You will work within the Environment, Health, and Safety (EH&S) department to support our site in reaching 100% compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements. You will split your time between an office setting and the manufacturing plant floor, with occasional outdoor work. This role runs from January 5 to April 23, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Support EH&S programs focused on risk identification and mitigation, including ergonomics and chemical exposures.
- Identify and implement ways to reduce waste, water use, and energy consumption.
- Assist with incident investigations, data trending, and the implementation of corrective actions.
- Develop business case documents for capital projects, including data gathering, vendor communication, budget estimates, and project scheduling.
- Participate in committee meetings, such as those for industrial hygiene, sustainable factory initiatives, and joint occupational health and safety.
- Communicate directly with plant employees, management, and production supervisors.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Canadian university in Environmental, Chemical, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Ability to work on-site in Halifax.
- Eligibility to work in Canada.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and obtain necessary clearances for handling controlled goods.
- Capability to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities.
