About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for the Summer 2027 term. You will work on-site in Fairfield, California, supporting the development and maintenance of specifications for materials and chemicals used in energetic devices. You must be a U.S. Person to qualify for this position.
What you'll do#
- Identify, develop, and update technical specifications for materials and chemicals used in manufacturing.
- Perform material and failure analysis on components, systems, and subsystems.
- Create and modify manufacturing documents and drawings to meet internal and contractual requirements.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions for part design and specification conditions.
- Modify designs, tooling, or procedures to provide reliable solutions.
- Support continuous improvement activities for project execution.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree program in Materials Science, Material Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related STEM discipline.
- Willingness to work around explosives.
- Foundational knowledge of material science or chemistry.
- Experience with analytical methods.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) access.
- Proficiency with MS Office.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Self-motivated approach to driving projects to completion.
