About the role#
Radiant is hiring a Tooling Engineer Intern for the summer of 2027. You will work at our headquarters in El Segundo, California, to help build portable nuclear microreactors. This is a full-time, paid internship.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with design and manufacturing engineers to create production tooling for fabricating and assembling complex structures.
- Design, analyze, and build tooling to support semi-remote operations for reactor fueling and defueling.
- Find and manage suppliers for tooling components and fabrication needs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BS or MS program for Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering.
- Experience with custom machine design, including electromechanical systems, motors, actuators, linear rails, bearings, and lifting or rigging equipment.
- Understanding of both hand calculations and finite element analysis methods.
- Ability to work well with design and operations teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and clear communication habits.

- This role is based 100% on-site in El Segundo, California.
- Employment requires compliance with U.S. export controls.
